ABOUT US

Founded and registered in 1993, EVRS is headquartered in Sicamous, BC, at the junction of Trans Canada Highway #1 and Highway 97A. Sicamous, known as the Houseboat Capital of Canada and a very popular snowmobile destination, is approximately mid-way between Salmon Arm and Revelstoke, a stretch of 98 km two-lane highway. Active crew members spend 2.5 hours per week training on the rescue equipment.

The Eagle Valley Rescue crew are lead by John Moore and Shane McKellar. It was Johns mission back in the early 90’s to put together a much needed rescue crew in this area. With the Trans Canada highway connecting with the Okanagan connector.

WHY EAGLE VALLEY?

Missions – 69 (12 months)

During its fiscal year, July 2019 – June 30, 2020 the rescue crew responded to 37 missions dispatched from the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) plus an additional 32 First Responder calls requested by BC Ambulance.

Training

In rescue missions, the crew trains every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the Sicamous Firehall. The crew members attend an average of 70% of training sessions which equates to 980 hrs of training per year.

HOW THE SOCIETY IS FUNDED?

The Eagle Valley Rescue Society owns $500,000 worth of asset that includes 2 rescue trucks and state of the art rescue equipment for vehicle extrication and over the bank winch rescue.

This funding ensures we have the vital and necessary equipment, tools, training, and care so that our dedicated team of volunteers can respond 24/7 in a rapid and timely fashion, thus saving lives on this very busy portion of our BC Highways system.
